About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Junk Journaling too. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing, but am plagued by a bad back. I like walking which I couple with Geocaching and sometimes Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I guess I am officially retired now. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Last Official Crochet Lesson

Well the ladies have come along in leaps and bounds in the 6 weeks since we began this adventure.

They all know the basic stitches and can read the pattern notations and have tackled various items from the Attic24 website.

Here's the latest Birdie Decoration

Some Flowers and Daffodils too.

One lady is going to try the Cosy Neck Warmer, so watch this space...

We learnt Popcorn Stitch last week and now have 2 more popcorn flowers to show off.

Plus the first square of many for a gorgeous baby blanket, a lifelong ambition of one lady, nearly realised, how wonderful is that.

This week we tackled Crocodile Stitch, now that was fun.... Ladders and rungs and scales in all orientations, lots of trial and error but everyone got there in the end.

The ladies can now spot where they have gone wrong and how they have gone wrong.

A world away from where they began as complete beginners 6 weeks ago.

Well done everyone.

A Different Leaf

I had a look on-line for leaf patterns and found a new way of doing one.

You do double crochet in a "U" shape round the foundation chain and back again. Each round is a little shorter to create points.

I added a little stalk too by just doing some chain and coming back down it with more double crochet.

I made one for my practice poppy which was just asking to be completed.

Popcorn

This week we did Popcorn stitch which is where a bobble is created on the surface of your work.

We did rows to get used to the stitch.

Then we made popcorn daisy flowers, including clusters too!

The daisy pattern is the decoration on a baby blanket and one lady is going to have a go at the blanket.

I have done a few rows of the blanket square, but the pattern takes a bit of getting used to and I think rows 3 and 4 are one stitch off but I think I got it by row 5.

Another Flock!

Here are some more birdies made by one lady in our group.

My First Crocheted Garment

Years ago crochet to me was just fancy doilies.

Since starting the class I have got into making small stuffed toys.

So I thought I best attempt my first garment.

I am doing a Woman's Cardigan as found in the Rowan Crochet Workshop Book.

Here's the beginning. I'm doing it in Rowan "4ply Soft" wool and it is certainly living up to its name as it is lovely and soft.

This makes a big change for me as up to now I have mainly crocheted in cotton which gives a much firmer fabric feel.

Little Bear

Just found out that the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small animals is called Amigurumi.

I had to make this cute little fellow.
I used this pattern.

He is only hand size, however, I think he looks more like a mouse really. Maybe I'll crochet him a tail!

A small flock!

Here are the birdies I have made so far...

Poppies and Birdie

The ladies have been busy and have sent me these photos of what they have been up to since the last class.

We have quite a few poppies.

A triple layered flower from the Attic24 site.

And our first birdie!

Well done ladies they are all super.
